Lucknow Municipal Corporation Sets a New Record in Property Tax Collection, Expresses Gratitude to Citizens

Lucknow: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has set a new benchmark in property tax collection this year. In the financial year 2024-25, the corporation has collected a record-breaking amount of Rs. 579.03 crore in property tax, which is Rs. 150 crore more than the previous year. Under the guidance of Honorable Mayor Smt. Sushma Kharkwal, tax collection has shown consistent growth. To facilitate taxpayers, resolution days were organized every Friday of the month, addressing GIS-related issues and encouraging tax payments.

Municipal Commissioner Shri Indrajit Singh expressed gratitude to the citizens of Lucknow for their active participation and timely tax payments. He assured that the municipal corporation is continuously striving to increase revenue and provide better civic amenities.

*Digital Payment Makes Tax Submission Easier*

LMC has promoted digital payment methods to simplify property tax payments. Now, citizens can easily pay their taxes through SMS alerts, online banking, Paytm, UPI, and other digital platforms. In the financial year 2024-25:

– 1.40 lakh transactions were made through online banking, collecting Rs. 62.19 crore.

– 40,000 transactions were completed via Paytm QR code, generating Rs. 22.86 crore.

– RTGS and NEFT transactions contributed Rs. 84.74 crore and Rs. 75.55 crore, respectively.

– 59,025 taxpayers used BBPS, resulting in a collection of Rs. 23.83 crore.

– 74 property owners paid Rs. 3,19,469 via WhatsApp.

Sealing Drive Boosts Collections

To recover dues from major defaulters, LMC sealed over 6,000 properties, significantly increasing property tax recovery and providing a substantial financial boost to the municipal corporation.

*Significant Surge in Overall Tax Collection*

So far, LMC has collected property tax from 5,05,689 property owners (Residential: 4,33,581; Commercial: 72,108). In the previous financial year, 4,16,000 property owners paid their taxes. Overall tax collection has seen an increase of nearly 50%.

– 2023-24: LMC collected Rs. 909 crore from taxes and non-tax revenues. 2024-25: This figure surged to Rs. 1355.32 crore.

This historic achievement by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation will contribute to making the city more organized and developed. The Municipal Commissioner has urged all taxpayers to continue paying property taxes on time to further enhance the city’s infrastructure and services.
