Lucknow A high-level delegation from Brazil visited the Shivri Plant of Lucknow Nagar Nigam on Tuesday. The visit was led by Hon’ble Mayor Mrs. Sushma Kharkwal, accompanied by Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Arvind Kumar Rao and Environmental Engineer Mr. Sanjeev Pradhan. During the visit, the delegation was given a detailed overview of Lucknow’s waste management system, particularly the processes for handling fresh and legacy waste.

*Key Delegation Members*

The Brazilian delegation included Paulo Azevedo, CEO of CÂMARA INDO BRASILEIRA, and Gustavo Ramos, COO. They toured the Shivri Plant and highly praised its technological advancements. Paulo Azevedo expressed his admiration for the innovative waste disposal methods adopted by Lucknow Nagar Nigam and emphasized that such advanced technology could be implemented in various Brazilian cities.

*Desire for Technology Transfer and Partnership*

The Brazilian delegation requested to strengthen technological collaboration and partnerships between India and Brazil. They highlighted that both countries face similar challenges in waste management, and India’s technological advancements could greatly assist Brazil in addressing these issues. The delegation also discussed the possibility of signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian government for cooperation on various projects.

*Focus on Geopolitical Support*

The delegation emphasized the need for stronger geopolitical cooperation between India and Brazil. They noted that compared to other nations, India offers a promising foundation for technological and commercial relationships with Brazil. They also extended an invitation to the Indian government and Lucknow Nagar Nigam to collaborate on potential future projects in Brazil.

*Prospects for New Projects*

The Brazilian delegation expressed keen interest in collaborating with Lucknow Nagar Nigam on ethanol production, waste-to-energy projects, and other agro-based industries. They pointed out that the waste management industry in Brazil is still developing, with limited companies and less efficient processes compared to India, particularly the model implemented in Lucknow. Therefore, they are keen to adopt Indian technologies and best practices.

*Plans for Partnership with Bhumi Green Energy*

The delegation appreciated Lucknow Nagar Nigam’s waste disposal technologies and expressed a desire to work with companies like Bhumi Green Energy for future projects in Brazil. They mentioned plans to establish similar projects in Brazil, aiming to improve and enhance the country’s waste management systems.
