Lucknow. Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh has written to Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath proposing the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) education at the school level and the establishment of a ‘Uttar Pradesh State Artificial Intelligence Commission’.
*From Digital Revolution to the Age of AI*
Dr. Rajeshwar Singh stated that today’s era belongs to Artificial Intelligence, a transformation that is reshaping humanity itself.
He appreciated that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has pioneered a digital revolution in education through smart classrooms, digital libraries, ICT labs, and e-content platforms.
“Now is the time for Uttar Pradesh to lead India’s transition from Digital Bharat to AI Bharat,” said Dr. Singh.
*The Need for AI Education in Schools*
The letter emphasizes that AI is transforming every sector – agriculture, health, governance, transport, and education. Early exposure to AI will prepare students for the jobs, innovations, and social responsibilities of the future.
Citing global best practices, Dr. Singh noted that countries like Singapore, Finland, China, and the UAE have already introduced AI education from early grades (age 9–10), resulting in 25–30% better STEM performance and 40% higher innovation tendencies among students.
*Proposed Framework:*
1. State Task Force: To be formed with experts from IIT Kanpur, IIIT Lucknow, NCERT, and NITI Aayog, to submit a phased action plan within six months.
2. Pilot Project: 200 schools (urban, rural & minority areas) to start bilingual AI education.
3. Teacher Training: 10,000 teachers to be trained through AI Teaching Excellence Programme in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, Microsoft, Infosys, or Google.
4. Curriculum Integration:
* Grades 3–5: Logic, patterns, and digital behaviour
* Grades 6–8: Coding, robotics, data fundamentals
* Grades 9–12: Python, Machine Learning, AI Ethics
* Local use-cases like AI for Agriculture and AI for Water Management to be included.
5. Digital Infrastructure: Smart Class Panels, AI Kits, Digital Libraries, and RBS Digital Empowerment Centres to serve as training hubs.
*Formation of the “Uttar Pradesh State Artificial Intelligence Commission”*
Dr. Singh emphasized that AI is a multi-dimensional subject that cannot be managed by routine administrative mechanisms alone.
He proposed a full-fledged commission to coordinate across education, industry, research, cybersecurity, ethics, and employment – creating a unified policy framework for AI Education, AI Industry, and Ethical AI Governance.
*Budget & Expected Outcomes*
Approx. ₹450 crore over five years is estimated for implementation.
By 2030:
* All students from grades 6–12 will be AI-literate.
* 10 lakh students will be trained in coding and data analytics.
* 1 lakh teachers will be certified in AI education.
* Every district will have an AI Resource Centre.
*“AI Education Will Make Uttar Pradesh a Knowledge Powerhouse”*
Dr. Rajeshwar Singh said, “AI education is not just technical training – it is the foundation of future citizenship.
Under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh should become the AI Education Model State of India.”
