They Gave Guns, Rajeshwar Singh Is Giving Footballs to Children” – Dr. Dinesh Sharma’s Sharp Attack on the Opposition from the Sports Platform

Lucknow. The grand finale of the Inter-School and Inter-Club Football Championship, organised under the Sansad Khel Mahotsav and the Sarojininagar Sports League (Phase-8) continuously conducted under the leadership of MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh was held in an atmosphere of great enthusiasm at Jai Jagat Park, LDA Colony, in the Sarojininagar Assembly constituency. The event was dedicated to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji on the eve of his birth anniversary.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh stated that the character built on the sports field guides youth throughout their lives, and the health gained through sports remains with them forever. Remembering Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, he said that the establishment of the Sports Authority of India campus in Lucknow in 2004 was the result of Atal Ji’s far-sighted vision for sports. Inspired by the same vision, Sansad Khel Mahotsav is being organised across the country today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Member of Parliament Dr. Dinesh Sharma.

Chief Guest and Member of Parliament Dr. Dinesh Sharma lauded the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and Sports Minister, stating that their efforts have enabled the Sansad Khel Mahotsav to be organised nationwide. He praised Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, saying that he has not only successfully conducted multiple sports competitions but has also elevated the Sansad Khel Mahotsav to an exemplary standard. He remarked that if assemblies were ranked based on performance, Sarojininagar would undoubtedly stand at the top. Quoting Atal Ji—“Accept what comes and then mould it in your own way”—he said that Rajeshwar Singh has internalised this philosophy and, through his work ethic, has inspired others as well.

Sharing his experiences from the K.D. Singh Babu Stadium, Dr. Sharma noted that Sarojininagar players have consistently excelled in sports such as tug-of-war and volleyball. He said that while the BJP is promoting patriotism, discipline, and positive energy through sports, the opposition remains entangled in casteism and divisive politics. He added that where earlier youths were handed weapons, today in Sarojininagar they are being handed footballs, hockey sticks, and badminton rackets. Where rewards once evoked fear, children today are winning prizes of ₹25,000 and ₹50,000—a clear picture of a transforming India.

*The Journey So Far: Thousands of Talents Emerged from Sarojininagar Sports League*
“The sports ground is the greatest school of life—this is where character, discipline, and confidence are shaped.”
With this philosophy at its core, sports have been transformed into a people’s movement in the Sarojininagar Assembly constituency. Dr. Rajeshwar Singh firmly believes that sports teach children to accept defeat with dignity, embrace victory with humility, trust teamwork, and rise again after falling. His dream is that before holding a mobile phone, every child should hold a football, a bat, or a racket, enabling the youth to grow physically, mentally, and morally strong.

Guided by this vision, the Inter-School and Inter-Club Football Championship under Sansad Khel Mahotsav and Sarojininagar Sports League (Phase-8) was inaugurated on 3 November, culminating in a grand finale on Wednesday at Jai Jagat Park. A total of 44 teams (22 Inter-School and 22 Inter-Club) participated, playing 45 thrilling matches. In the grand finale, Stella Maris won the Inter-School title, while Techtro FC emerged victorious in the Inter-Club category. Dr. Rajeshwar Singh awarded ₹50,000 to the winning teams, ₹25,000 to the runners-up, and additional prizes in various categories to outstanding performers, encouraging and honouring sporting excellence.

It is noteworthy that the Sarojininagar Sports League began on 4 December 2022 with an Under-19 Girls’ Basketball Tournament, aimed at keeping youth fit, disciplined, and positively engaged. Since then, across eight phases, multiple competitions in cricket, football, volleyball, and basketball have been organised, providing a platform to thousands of talented players.
