Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh facilitates treatment, support, and action in child injury case
Lucknow: True public leadership is reflected not only in words, but in timely decisions, coordinated action, and a humane response during moments of crisis. Such responsible and compassionate leadership was evident in the aftermath of a tragic accident involving a young child in the Sarojini Nagar area.
On 11 January 2026, an open and unsafe electricity transformer caused a severe electric shock accident, grievously injuring Arpit Gupta, the 8-year-old son of Rakesh Pal, a resident of Sainik Vihar Colony, Bijnor. Following the incident, priority was accorded to the child’s medical care, and arrangements were promptly facilitated for his treatment at KGMU, Lucknow. Medical expenses incurred so far, amounting to approximately ₹75,000, have been covered through support extended under the guidance of MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh. Members of his team also contributed through blood donation, providing both medical and moral support to the distressed family.
As the affected family originally belongs to the Mohanlalganj Assembly constituency, and keeping constitutional procedures in view, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh formally requested the Hon’ble MLA of Mohanlalganj to extend all possible assistance to the family from the MLA Development Fund, so that the child’s treatment continues uninterrupted.
Recognising the incident not merely as an unfortunate accident but as a matter of administrative accountability, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh has written to Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, seeking appropriate government support and compensation for the affected family.
In addition, a detailed communication has been sent to the Hon’ble Energy Minister, demanding the registration of an FIR, a fair and impartial inquiry, strict action against responsible officials, immediate compensation to the victim’s family, and a comprehensive survey and fencing of unsafe transformers in the area to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
Commenting on the matter, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh stated that negligence in public safety infrastructure is unacceptable and that strict enforcement of safety norms is essential to protect lives, especially those of children. He reiterated that ensuring accountability and preventing future tragedies remains a priority.
The incident once again reflects an approach of governance where human sensitivity, constitutional responsibility, and administrative firmness go hand in hand-ensuring that victims receive care, justice is pursued, and systemic lapses are addressed.
