Dr Rajeshwar Singh: From Constrained Spending to Capacity Building with 3–4× Rise in Key Sectors
Sectoral expenditure trends across three political eras clearly demonstrate how Uttar Pradesh has transitioned from constrained and fragmented spending to large-scale, balanced capacity building under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji, said Dr Rajeshwar Singh. He emphasized that the present government has transformed fiscal discipline into sustained investment across core sectors, strengthening governance and development outcomes.
In the Law & Order (Police) sector, budgetary allocation has increased from approximately ₹10–12 thousand crore during the BSP era (2012–13) and ₹15–18 thousand crore under the SP government (2016–17) to ₹41,898 crore in 2026–27. This nearly 3.5–4 times increase reflects systematic strengthening through recruitment, modernization, and infrastructure expansion.
In Health & Family Welfare, allocations have risen to ₹53,326 crore, marking a significant expansion in medical colleges, hospitals, diagnostics, and public health systems.
Under Rural Development, spending has grown to ₹49,044 crore, supporting roads, housing, sanitation, and livelihoods. Social Welfare & Nutrition expenditure has reached ₹42,263 crore, while Urban Development allocations stand at ₹27,532 crore—together reflecting balanced, large-scale investment.
Dr Rajeshwar Singh stated that revenue growth, controlled deficits, and prudent debt management under CM Yogi Adityanath have enabled Uttar Pradesh to emerge stronger, fiscally stable, and development-oriented.
