This initiative is being celebrated across the state as a festival, with a dedicated cleanliness and beautification drive in 1120 public parks across the city.
The campaign began today, April 13, 2025, with special cleaning operations and the removal of horticultural waste in various city parks. Under the directive of the Municipal Corporation, the initiative ensures not only comprehensive cleaning but also proper disposal of garden and plant residues, contributing significantly to a cleaner and greener urban environment.
This special drive is being carried out under the esteemed leadership of Hon’ble Mayor Mrs. Sushma Kharkwal and under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Mr. Indrajit Singh. The campaign’s coordination and supervision are being undertaken by Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Arvind Kumar Rao, along with Horticulture Superintendents Mr. Gangaram and Mr. Shashikant. Teams from the Corporation are actively working with full dedication to implement the campaign efficiently.
According to the Municipal Corporation, the initiative extends beyond cleanliness. It also includes plantation drives, park beautification, repair of swings and seating arrangements, improvement of lighting systems, and enhanced citizen participation. To promote community engagement, local residents, NGOs, and schools are being encouraged to take part in this civic movement.
Hon’ble Mayor Mrs. Sushma Kharkwal stated, “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was not only the architect of the Indian Constitution but also a strong advocate for social equality and cleanliness. This campaign is a tribute to his vision and values.”
Municipal Commissioner Mr. Indrajit Singh added that the drive is not merely a cleanliness initiative but also an effort to spread Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals among the public. Citizens are encouraged to take active participation in this initiative and contribute to building a cleaner, more beautiful, and aware Lucknow.
During the 15-day campaign, a variety of cultural, educational, and social programs are also scheduled, aimed at raising awareness about Dr. Ambedkar’s life, work, and contributions to the nation.
