Lucknow On Friday morning, Lucknow Municipal Corporation launched a strict anti-encroachment drive in Zone-2 under the leadership of Zonal Officer Ms. Shilpa Kumari. The drive started at 7:00 AM, covering areas from Phool Mandi to Charak Chauraha and continuing up to the front of the KGMU Trauma Center.
The operation was actively supported by Environmental Engineer Mr. Sanjeev Pradhan, Zonal Sanitary Officer (ZSO) Mr. Ram Sakal Yadav, along with other officials from Zone-2. The municipal team took strict action against vendors and shopkeepers occupying public roads and footpaths.
According to officials, illegal encroachments around the Trauma Center had been causing severe traffic congestion for a long time. Frequent traffic jams near a major hospital like KGMU not only inconvenience the public but also delay emergency services, particularly ambulances, in reaching the hospital on time. Patients and their families often faced great difficulty due to this daily chaos.
During the operation, the team confiscated a total of 7 benches, 4 carts, 22 stools, and 3 small and large gas cylinders, along with various other encroachment-related materials. These items were illegally placed on roads and walkways, obstructing smooth movement. The seized items were safely stored at the municipal corporation’s facility.
In addition, the team fined 9 cart vendors in the Phool Mandi area for creating unhygienic conditions. A total fine of ₹3,900 was imposed under the municipal sanitation regulations. The corporation clarified that strict actions will continue against those who hinder the city’s cleanliness and traffic management.
Zonal Officer Ms. Shilpa Kumari stated that this drive will continue regularly. She appealed to citizens to refrain from encroaching on public spaces and to comply with municipal guidelines. The goal of Lucknow Municipal Corporation is to make the city clean, encroachment-free, and traffic-friendly.
