– Program held on the 7th Anniversary of Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Lucknow

On the occasion of the 7th Anniversary of Jan Aushadhi Kendra, Jan Aushadhi Day was celebrated in Lucknow on Friday. A program was organized at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital in Hazratganj. The event was graced by Honorable Mayor Mrs. Sushma Kherkawal, who inaugurated the Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital. The event was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Amar Pal, former Legislative Council member Mr. Arvind Tripathi, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. A.P. Singh, Dr. Vinay Mishra, Dr. Jyoti Kamle, and the Chief Medical Superintendent of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital, Dr. Rajesh Srivastava.

During the program, Honorable Mayor Mrs. Sushma Kherkawal emphasized that doctors are akin to gods on Earth, and their sweet words and friendly behavior heal half of the patient’s illness, while the remaining half is treated with medicines. She explained that the main objective of Jan Aushadhi Kendras is to provide quality medicines, surgical materials, and other medical-related items at minimal prices. Medicines available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras are priced 50 to 80 percent lower than branded medicines. The Mayor urged the public to spread awareness about these centers so that more and more people can benefit from them.

Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Amar Pal mentioned that Jan Aushadhi Kendras are a part of the Prime Minister’s ambitious scheme, launched seven years ago under the health care campaign for all. The goal of this scheme is to provide affordable and quality medicines to people from all sections of society.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. N.B. Singh informed that before 2025, Jan Aushadhi Kendras were operational at 10 government hospitals in Lucknow, and the process of expanding them to 28 hospitals is underway. New Sanjivani Medical Store has been authorized to operate these centers. He also mentioned that a Jan Aushadhi Protection and Monitoring Committee has been formed under the leadership of the District Magistrate to ensure effective implementation of the project.

On this significant occasion, Former Legislative Council Member Mr. Arvind Tripathi, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. A.P. Singh, Dr. Vinay Mishra, Dr. Jyoti Kamle, Chief Medical Superintendent of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital Dr. Rajesh Srivastava, Medical Superintendent Dr. S.R. Singh, District Health Education & Information Officer Mr. Yogesh Raghvanshi, Dr. Deepti Kaushal, Masarrat Jama, Vivek Chitransh, Councilors Mr. Sanjay Rathore and Mr. Shailendra Sharma, along with officers and staff from the Chief Medical Officer’s office and Civil Hospital, and representatives from the Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) were also present at the event.
