– Inspection in Zone-1, Zone-4, and Zone-7
Lucknow: On Friday morning, Hon’ble Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Uttar Pradesh and in-charge of Lucknow District, Shri Suresh Khanna, conducted a surprise inspection of the cleanliness system of the Municipal Corporation. During this inspection, Lucknow’s Hon’ble Mayor, Smt. Sushma Kharkwal, was also present. The Minister expressed deep dissatisfaction over the poor cleanliness situation in Zone-1, while cleanliness in Zones-4 and 7 was found to be satisfactory. Due to some negligence in cleanliness management in Zone-1, the Hon’ble Minister directed action to be taken against the concerned officials. Following these instructions, the Municipal Commissioner took action against the zonal officer, SFI, supervisor, and the executing agency.
*Minister Expresses Displeasure Over Cleanliness in Zone-1*
The Minister inspected the Hazratganj Ramteerath Ward and Vikramaditya Mahatma Gandhi Ward in Zone-1. During the inspection, dirt, encroachments, and negligence in cleanliness management were observed in the Narhi area of Hazratganj. Expressing displeasure, the Minister directed the Municipal Commissioner to take strict action against the concerned officials. In contrast, the cleanliness system in Vikramaditya Mahatma Gandhi Ward was found to be good. However, local residents raised concerns regarding sewer issues, to which the Minister assured them that a solution would be provided soon.
*Satisfactory Cleanliness Found in Zone-4 and Zone-7*
In Zone-4, the Minister inspected Marutipuram, where the cleanliness system was found to be in good condition. Similarly, in Zone-7’s Smileganj-2 Ward, cleanliness was satisfactory, but local residents raised concerns about the poor condition of the roads. The Minister took note of this issue and assured the residents that it would be resolved promptly.
*Presence of Municipal Corporation Officials*
During the inspection, Municipal Commissioner Shri Inderjeet Singh, all Additional Municipal Commissioners, Chief Engineer, Zonal Officers, and other departmental officers of the Municipal Corporation were also present. The Minister instructed the officials to further improve the cleanliness system to ensure that citizens have access to a clean and healthy environment.
*Minister’s Strict Instructions*
During the inspection, the Minister issued strict instructions for improving the cleanliness system and asked for necessary reforms. This surprise inspection clearly indicated the government’s full commitment to cleanliness and its ongoing efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the cleanliness system in Lucknow.
*Action Taken*
Following the Hon’ble Minister’s instructions, Municipal Commissioner Shri Inderjeet Singh took action regarding the dirt found during the inspection in Zone-1. Notices were issued to Zonal Officer Rajesh Verma, SFI Mukesh, and the supervisor, along with a directive for a three-day salary deduction. Additionally, the executing agency *Varsha Enterprises* was fined ₹10,000 for the negligence.
