Local residents laud the project: say the CM Grid is transforming their neighbourhood; even visiting guests are appreciating the remarkable change
Lucknow: The ongoing CM Grid Project Phase-1 has brought both relief and pride to residents across several parts of the city. As the project continues to advance—through the construction of roads, footpaths, drainage systems and underground cabling—locals note that “the appearance of our area is changing every day. Even guests visiting our homes now praise how beautifully the neighbourhood is transforming.”
To strengthen urban infrastructure and enhance city aesthetics, URIDA CEO Shri Mahendra Bahadur Singh conducted an extensive on-site inspection of the development works being carried out under CM Grid Phase-1 on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Shri Gaurav Kumar, URIDA Deputy CEO Shri Arvind Srivastava, Chief Engineer (Civil) Shri Mahesh Verma, Chief Engineer (RR) Shri Manoj Prabhat, Executive Engineer Shri Atul Mishra, PMU representative Shri Amit, along with several officials from the Municipal Corporation and URIDA.
Under CM Grid Phase-1, construction and upgradation of seven major roads across the city are being executed at a fast pace. Reviewing progress at various locations, the CEO inspected the quality of work, timelines, and the development of essential urban facilities.
*First Inspection: Purania–Aliganj Road to Kursi Road*
The inspection began from Purania–Aliganj Road, passing through Savitri Apartment, up to the Census Directorate on Kursi Road. At this site, sample stretches, on-street parking, stepped footpaths, tile installation, storm-water drains, and power/OFC ducts for undergrounding overhead lines are being developed.
The CEO instructed officials to ensure that all works are completed within the specified timeframe and with high-quality standards.
*Second Inspection: Mandir Marg to Gol Market and Kapurthala Crossing*
The team then reviewed the progress from Mandir Marg and Gol Market to the Kapurthala intersection. Footpath stepping, sample stretches, tiling, and on-street parking arrangements are progressing rapidly here as well.
The CEO directed officials to coordinate closely with the electricity department to expedite pending works.
Local residents informed the officials that the CM Grid Project has made the locality more attractive and better organised than before. Many said the redesigned streets have given the area a modern appearance. Local shopkeepers also appreciated the improvements.
*Third Inspection: IGNOU Road to LN House School*
At the third inspection site—from IGNOU Road to LN House School—road and footpath development is advancing swiftly. The CEO instructed teams to accelerate the construction of the sample stretch, while tiles work, storm-water drainage, and underground power/OFC duct installation continue steadily.
Residents expressed gratitude, saying that the improvements have enhanced both commuting convenience and the aesthetic appeal of the neighbourhood.
CEO Shri Singh emphasized that no part of the project should face unnecessary delays and that every segment must be completed on schedule.
*Goal: Complete Phase-1 by January*
Concluding the inspection, CEO Shri Mahendra Bahadur Singh stated that all works under CM Grid Phase-1 must be completed with quality and speed. He directed teams to ensure that the entire project is finished by January, so that residents can begin enjoying its benefits at the earliest. The CM Grid Project is emerging as a significant step toward giving the city a modern, organised, and visually appealing urban environment.
