“Development + Values + Knowledge + Technology + Fitness: We Must Build a Nation-First Generation for Viksit Bharat” — Dr. Rajeshwar Singh
“Raising Children as Better Human Beings and Responsible Citizens Is a Collective Responsibility of Parents, Schools and Society” — Dr. Rajeshwar Singh
Lucknow. Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is advancing at an unprecedented pace in modern infrastructure, economic growth, cutting-edge technology, digital transformation and innovation. To make the vision of Viksit Bharat enduring and strong, it is equally important to nurture citizens—especially the younger generation—who are rooted in values, capable, healthy and guided by a nation-first approach.
He said that instilling values such as honesty, discipline, compassion, patriotism, a sense of duty and respect for others in children is not merely the responsibility of parents or schools, but a collective responsibility of every citizen and society as a whole. Value education is the greatest investment any society can make, as modern development and strong character complement each other.
Referring to history, Dr. Singh said that around 1.5 lakh British officials and soldiers were able to rule India, a country with a population of nearly 25 crore, for almost 200 years. He said that beyond military strength, internal divisions, lack of unity and failure to consistently place the nation first also played an important role. This chapter of history teaches us the importance of national unity, social harmony and building a nation-first generation.
Dr. Singh said that providing the younger generation with a strong foundation of Values + Knowledge + Technology + Fitness is the need of the hour. Through smart classes, digital libraries, AI awareness, digital literacy, cybersecurity education and sports, children must be prepared for the challenges of the future and empowered to become capable, healthy, confident and responsible citizens.
Highlighting initiatives in Sarojini Nagar, Dr. Singh said that 15 RBS Digital Empowerment Centres are imparting digital literacy and technological skills to youth. So far, 1,001 students have completed their training at these centres, while 481 students are currently undergoing training. He also emphasised celebrating merit and resilience by recognising talented and hardworking children so that they emerge as role models for society.
Dr. Singh added that sports teach discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience and confidence. In line with this vision, the Sarojininagar Sports League has emerged as a mass movement promoting a healthy, confident and drug-free lifestyle among youth. Through nine editions, more than 10,000 youth have participated, over 1,500 sports kits have been distributed and more than ₹11 lakh in prize money has been awarded.
Dr. Singh said, “Viksit Bharat will be built through modern infrastructure, a strong economy and technological progress, along with empowered human resources and strong character. If we want an even better India tomorrow, we must work together today to nurture capable, value-driven and nation-first citizens. The greatest strength of nation-building lies in the character and capabilities of our citizens.”
