Without peace, neither development nor a secure future for humanity is possible
Lucknow: On the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh paid floral tribute to the Father of the Nation alongside Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath at GPO Park in Hazratganj. He reaffirmed his commitment to living by Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence and Swadeshi.
Dr. Singh said the world is grappling with serious conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war, tensions and violence in the Middle East, Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, Myanmar and Ethiopia’s Tigray region. Ordinary people, children and families bear the greatest cost of these conflicts. War destroys lives, livelihoods and opportunities; lasting peace is the foundation of human progress.
“Gandhi’s non-violence was not a sign of weakness, but a path of moral courage and inner strength. His message remains clear: disagreement need not lead to violence, and differences must not close the door to dialogue and humanity. The world must break free from the cycle of war and retaliation and give priority to peace. Without peace, no nation or society can achieve genuine progress,” he said.
Dr. Singh added that Gandhi’s commitment to truth is especially important in an era of misinformation and mistrust. Speaking truth, respecting facts and upholding integrity in public life help strengthen trust in society.
He said Gandhi championed Khadi, village industries and Swadeshi to empower local artisans, weavers and workers. He described Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath’s initiative to promote Khadi as commendable, adding that choosing Swadeshi honours local skills and strengthens self-reliance.
Dr. Singh said the true tribute to Bapu lies in practising truth, embracing non-violence and making Swadeshi a priority. Gandhi’s ideas are not confined to history; they continue to show the way towards peace, harmony and progress for today’s world and future generations.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Brajesh Pathak, Mayor Smt. Sushma Kharkwal, MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora, MLC Shri Mukesh Sharma, MLC Dr. Lalji Nirmal and other dignitaries were present.
Humble tributes to Bapu, who showed the world a path to peace and the nation a path to progress through truth, non-violence and humanity.
