Lucknow: In a grand ceremony organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Thursday, the results of the *Swachh Survekshan 2024-25* were announced. Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, honored Lucknow Municipal Corporation for securing the *third position nationwide*. This proud moment is not just a recognition, but a testament to Lucknow’s rising awareness, dedicated efforts, and active citizen participation in cleanliness.
Gracing the occasion were Hon’ble Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs & Power Shri Manohar Lal Ji, Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development, Uttar Pradesh, Shri A. K. Sharma Ji, Mayor Smt. Sushma Kharkwal, and former Municipal Commissioner Shri Inderjeet Singh.
In her address, the Hon’ble President remarked that *Swachh Survekshan* has not only measured the commitment of cities towards cleanliness but also encouraged healthy competition and innovation. She noted that this is the world’s largest cleanliness survey, with participation from over 14 crore citizens. She emphasized the cultural significance of cleanliness in India and quoted Mahatma Gandhi’s belief that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”
Present at the ceremony were esteemed councilors of Lucknow including Shri Girish Gupta, Shri Sushil Tiwari ‘Pammi’, Shri Saurabh Singh ‘Monu’, Shri Ranjit Singh; Municipal Commissioner Shri Gaurav Kumar; Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Arvind Kumar Rao; GM Jal Kal Shri Kuldeep Singh, along with the entire LMC team.
According to the results of the *Swachh Survekshan 2024-25* by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Lucknow secured *3rd place* in the category of cities with a population of over 10 lakh, and *1st place in Uttar Pradesh*. This achievement reflects LMC’s excellence across multiple parameters, inspired by the philosophy of *Reduce, Reuse, Recycle*.
