Lucknow: A high-level review meeting of the Property Department of Lucknow Municipal Corporation was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Mayor Mrs. Sushma Kharkwal. Present at the meeting were Municipal Commissioner Mr. Gaurav Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Property) Mrs. Namrata Singh, Property Department In-Charge Assistant Municipal Commissioner Mr. Rameshwar Prasad, along with all Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Lekhpals, Revenue Inspectors, and other officials and staff.

During the meeting, the Hon’ble Mayor demanded a comprehensive report on the total 212 villages under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation, along with ward- and village-wise classification of land types such as barren, infertile, pasture, ponds, and other categories.

She also raised serious concerns regarding the land that has been vacated—questioning whether those sites remain unoccupied or if encroachments have reoccurred. A detailed update was sought regarding fencing and signage installed on Municipal lands, along with photographic evidence.

The Mayor highlighted that earlier, the Municipal Corporation generated significant revenue by issuing NOCs (No Objection Certificates) for land use. However, due to inaction by the Property Department, this authority has been transferred to the Lucknow Development Authority, leading to financial losses worth crores of rupees each year. She directed the department to initiate immediate corrective measures.

The meeting concluded with a stern warning from the Mayor. She stated that any further reports of departmental negligence, corruption, or collaboration with encroachers would result in strict disciplinary action against responsible officials.
