From Training to Employment—Sarojini Nagar Presents a New Model of Youth Empowerment
Lucknow: Defying torrential rain and difficult weather conditions, the youth of Sarojini Nagar demonstrated extraordinary determination to secure a better future. As many as 817 candidates registered and participated in the interview process at the Bharat Rozgar Mahotsav—Lucknow Edition, organised by Bharat Rozgar Seva under the aegis of Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh.
This first-of-its-kind employment fair organised at an MLA’s office introduced a new culture of public service—one that takes politics beyond promises and connects young people directly with employment opportunities.
A major highlight of the event was that a large number of participating candidates had received free digital and vocational training at the Ran Bahadur Singh Digital Centres. The initiative has created an organised pathway in Sarojini Nagar that takes young people from skill development to interviews and ultimately towards employment.
Representatives of leading companies, including Tata Motors, Adani, Airtel and Samsung, participated in the Mahotsav. Interviews were conducted at three centres under the “One Candidate—One Interview” model, in which each applicant’s qualifications, experience and skills were assessed to identify the most suitable employment opportunity.
Opportunities were offered for positions including trainee, data-entry operator, wireman, smart-meter installer, promoter, steward and field sales executive. The selection process by participating employers is continuing, and a separate programme will soon be organised to distribute appointment letters to the selected candidates.
Addressing the participating youth, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh said:
“The enthusiasm of 817 young candidates who reached the venue despite torrential rain proves that our youth need opportunities—not sympathy. In hard work, talent and determination, they are second to none. We first equipped them with skills through the Ran Bahadur Singh Digital Centres, and today those very skills enabled them to stand confidently before some of India’s leading companies.”
Dr. Singh said the Mahotsav would familiarise young people with available jobs, the qualifications required for them and the rapidly changing requirements of industry. It would also create a strong atmosphere of dialogue, trust and cooperation among the youth, public representatives and industry.
Announcing that the initiative would continue regularly, Dr. Singh said:
“The Bharat Rozgar Mahotsav will now be organised every month. Candidates who could not secure selection this time will have their skill gaps assessed, receive further training free of cost at the Ran Bahadur Singh Digital Centres, and be given another opportunity at the next employment fair. No youth of Sarojini Nagar will be allowed to lose hope, and no youth will be left behind.”
Through this initiative, Sarojini Nagar has established a continuous employment cycle comprising training, interviews, skill upgradation, renewed opportunity and placement. It is not merely a one-day job fair, but a long-term mission to make young people skilled, confident and self-reliant.
For the convenience of candidates, QR-registration desks, waiting areas, refreshments, waterproof tents, additional seating and shelter arrangements, and a voter-ID assistance desk were established at the venue. The entire registration and recruitment process was completely free, and no fee, deposit or commission was charged from any candidate.
Dr. Rajeshwar Singh expressed his gratitude to all participating employers, industry representatives, the Bharat Rozgar Seva team, trainers of the Ran Bahadur Singh Digital Centres and every volunteer who worked tirelessly to make the event successful despite the heavy rain.
